Frequently Asked Questions

Who Is After School Club For?

Primary school aged Boys and Girls (5 years to 11 Years old).

How Much Does It Cost?

£2 per child per session. This includes the cost of a healthy 2 course meal, prepared in our cafe kitchen.

How Often Does After School Club Run?

Once a week on Fridays during school term time only, which means After School Club isn’t available during school holidays including half-term, Easter Holiday, Summer Holiday and Christmas Holiday.

What Time Is After School Club?

3:30pm to 5:30pm

Adults usually drop off children from 3:30pm to 4pm. We have plenty of fun activities to keep the children entertained until we start the main activity of the session at about 4pm.

Adults collect the children at 5:30pm.

Do I Have To Stay For The Session?

No. Part of the idea for After School Club is that all the adults drop off their children, giving them an extra couple of hours to prepare for the weekend or just put their feet up at home before coming back to collect them at 5:30pm.

Do We Have To Come Every Week?

Not at all. It would be lovely to see you every week, but you can pop along as often or as little as you’re able.

What Activities Take Place At After School Club?

We do craft, sport & games, and each week we have a bible story with the craft and activities being themed around that story.

What Can The Children Wear?

All children can come as they are. Some are still in school uniform, while others have changed. It’s entirely up to you and them.

Why Do I Have To Register?

To enable us to provide a fun and safe space for children, adults, staff and volunteers we need your basic details as the responsible adult such as a parent, guardian, career or child-minder. We need to know about any child special needs and allergies, and we need an emergency contact number for use only in an emergency.

Who Runs After School Club?

After School Club is run by the staff and volunteers at Whitton Life Community Hub. All of our staff and volunteers are CRB checked.

Our activities are provided under the strict guidance of our Safeguarding Policy, which is overseen by our Safeguarding Trustee Abi Warner.

About Whitton Life Community Hub

The Whitton Life Community Hub has been providing activities to small groups of all ages on the Whitton estate for 22 years (since 2000).

It is a ‘Community Action’ that is funded and run by a local Christian church called London Road Baptist Church (LRBC) which is located on Kirkley Park Rd, Lowestoft.

LRBC is a registered charity in England & Wales No. 1131765

Is It A Church Thing?

For us it is, but don’t let that put you off. For the children it’s just a great fun activity. You don’t have to be a church type of person to enjoy what the Whitton Life Community Hub has to offer. We’re not weird and we don’t bite. Many of us are mums, dads, grandads, and nannys, and we’re great cooks!
